Mouth Guards

Mouth Guards

A professionally made custom Mouth Guard offers superior protection. They are custom fitted to your teeth by taking an impression. This results in a more comfortable guard that resists movement and allows easier communication and breathing. The better fit leaves you with less distractions and allows them to focus more on your game. They are made from a tough thermoplastic material that tastes and smells completely neutral in a variety of colours of your choice.

In contrast, the over the counter “boil and bite” mouthguards are often poorly fitted, loose and can impede breathing and speech. They can even become life threatening if they dislodge and become wedged in the back of the throat. For these reasons the Australian Dental Association recommends the use of professional custom fitted mouthguards in preference to the Boil and Bite type.

Here at Pristine Dentistry we’re all about protecting your smile, that’s why we thoroughly recommend professional custom made sports mouthguards.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is the clinic from Walkley Heights?

We're at 15 Roopena Street, Ingle Farm, in the neighbouring suburb. Both suburbs sit in the 5098 postcode, so for most Walkley Heights residents it's a short drive.

Are you taking new patients from Walkley Heights?

Yes. New patients are welcome and you don't need a referral. It helps to bring a list of any medications you take and your health fund card, if you have one.

Can my child use their CDBS benefit with you?

If your child is eligible, yes. You can check through your Medicare online account, or ask our reception team to help you confirm it before the appointment.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency on a weekend?

We're open Saturday mornings from 8:00am to 12:30pm, so call as early as you can. Outside those hours, go to your nearest hospital emergency department. Do the same if swelling is affecting your breathing or swallowing.

Do health funds cover dental implants?

Some extras policies contribute to part of implant treatment, but cover varies widely between funds and policy levels. We can give you a written estimate with item numbers so you can check with your fund first.

Do you have after-work appointments?

Yes. We stay open until 7:00pm on Thursdays, which tends to suit people working full-time.
