Children’s Dentistry

Give your child’s teeth the best start

Pristine Dentistry recommends regular dental check-ups for children from the age of two.

We love working with kids and making their visits to the dentist enjoyable experiences. Our practitioners have extensive experience working with children of all ages and have specialised training in children’s dentistry.

It may not be necessarily to provide treatment, but rather to familiarise them with the sights, smells and sounds of a dental clinic. At each appointment, a comprehensive examination is performed to ensure everything is progressing well in your child’s mouth. Misaligned and crowded teeth are examined and analysed to allow us to recommend appropriate treatment such as braces.

We thoroughly check children’s teeth for cavities, loose and infected teeth and advise if any treatment is required. Deep grooves (fissures) in the molars are regularly checked as these can be breeding grounds for bacteria which can lead to cavities. In these cases, fissure sealants are applied to molars to prevent decay.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is the clinic from Walkley Heights?

We're at 15 Roopena Street, Ingle Farm, in the neighbouring suburb. Both suburbs sit in the 5098 postcode, so for most Walkley Heights residents it's a short drive.

Are you taking new patients from Walkley Heights?

Yes. New patients are welcome and you don't need a referral. It helps to bring a list of any medications you take and your health fund card, if you have one.

Can my child use their CDBS benefit with you?

If your child is eligible, yes. You can check through your Medicare online account, or ask our reception team to help you confirm it before the appointment.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency on a weekend?

We're open Saturday mornings from 8:00am to 12:30pm, so call as early as you can. Outside those hours, go to your nearest hospital emergency department. Do the same if swelling is affecting your breathing or swallowing.

Do health funds cover dental implants?

Some extras policies contribute to part of implant treatment, but cover varies widely between funds and policy levels. We can give you a written estimate with item numbers so you can check with your fund first.

Do you have after-work appointments?

Yes. We stay open until 7:00pm on Thursdays, which tends to suit people working full-time.
